  • Community Self Advocacy Worker

    Description

Progen Care is continuously growing to meet the needs of developmentally disabled children through our ABA therapy. We currently offer our services to qualified patients in the 5 Burroughs of New York as well as Westchester County. We specialize in conducting initial evaluations and providing ongoing services in home, community and clinic settings. Progen Care is centered around a culture of collaboration and support to ensure our services are of the highest quality and adhere to our strong ethical standards. All of our clinicians will have access to the following benefits:

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct assessments for children diagnosed with ASD and work with caregivers to create meaningful goals and treatment plans
    • Design behavior intervention plans
    • Create functional specific, observable, and measurable goals for behavior therapists and caregivers to implement
    • Provide at least 10% direct supervision of behavioral therapists assigned to cases, incorporating behavioral skills training and specific performance feedback while ensuring clinical integrity of the programs

    Requirements

    • High school diploma, high school equivalency, or State Education Commencement Credentia
    • Completed Level One of the Youth Peer Support Services Advisory Council recommended and State approved training for YPAs
    • Two letters of reference attesting to proficiency in and suitability for the role of a YPA
    • Qualities of leadership, including knowledge of advocacy and group development
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Lived experience with a disability, mental illness, juvenile justice, special education, substance use disorder, and/or foster care
    • Experience working with youth in a peer support capacity
    • Experience facilitating peer-to-peer groups and activities
    • Experience with advocacy and community outreach

    Job Summary:

    Description

    We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Intensive In-Home Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping children and families in crisis, and a strong background in counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide intensive in-home counseling services to children and families in crisis
    • Conduct assessments of risk, mental status, and need for further evaluation and/or other health/behavioral health services
    • Develop crisis plans to address immediate safety/risk concerns and prevent future crises
    • Engage children and families in ways that support the everyday application of treatment methods as described in the child's/youth's treatment plan
    • Assist children and families with effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that would risk their remaining in a natural community location
    • Coordinate with collateral providers and link children and families to needed services

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in counseling, crisis intervention, and case management
    • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, cultural competence, and evidence-based practices
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
